Guyanese workers and companies have significant opportunities in specialized technical services for offshore oil operations. But tapping these opportunities requires long-term investments in skills, training, and partnerships, according to Halliburton’s Country Lead in Guyana.
Speaking during a panel discussion on building a sustainable local content ecosystem at the Guyana Energy Conference, Halliburton’s Country Lead, Vahman Jurai said several areas of the oilfield services supply chain still have room for local companies to develop capacity. These include vessel logistics, equipment manufacturing, analytical testing and chemistry, and chemical supply and manufacturing.
“There are still a significant amount of areas for growth,” Jurai said, noting that these segments are more technically demanding and capital-intensive than many services already provided locally.
