SBM Offshore Guyana, in partnership with Cerulean Incorporated and The Nico Consulting Incorporated, the organisers of the 25 Influential Women Leaders Award (25IWLA), has introduced the SBM Offshore Guyana Woman of Excellence Award. The award was unveiled during the 2024 IWLA. The introduction of the award aims to support greater advocacy and empowerment, while also serving as a platform to highlight the significant impact that women have in their respective fields while also encouraging greater gender diversity and inclusivity. Eligibility for the award was extended to several sectors across Guyana, leading to a broad representation of talent and expertise. This approach aims to enhance collaboration and the exchange of ideas across different fields, ultimately enhancing the impact of the partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n

Ms. Camille Cummings, a seasoned educator, is the recipient of the inaugural award. This accolade highlights her significant contributions and achievements in the field of education. Through the award, Ms. Cummings was recognised for her hard work and dedication to shaping the lives of students and impacting the educational community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With nearly 37 years of experience, Ms. Cummings has made significant contributions as an educator and through her work as the founder of the organisation Ladies on a Mission (L.O.A.M). An educator and devoted leader in her community of Linden, she has served as head teacher at four different schools in Linden and Essequibo. Ms. Cummings is also a Minister of the Gospel and a dedicated mother and grandmother. L.O.A.M., founded on December 4, 2022, is dedicated to empowering women and making a difference in their lives. Ms. Cummings has been a relentless advocate for women\u2019s empowerment through this organisation, aiming to create lasting change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her dedication to serving her community through her foundation has proven to be truly impactful, from providing companionship and support to senior citizens through monthly breakfasts to empowering vulnerable girls and raising awareness about cancer, demonstrating her commitment to making a positive difference in people\u2019s lives. Her vision to extend these services to other parts of Guyana reflects a deep-rooted desire to address societal needs on a broader scale and create lasting change beyond her immediate community. Ms. Cummings\u2019 leadership and compassion are inspiring examples of how individuals can make meaningful contributions to society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SBM Offshore Guyana believes that gender equality and women\u2019s empowerment are crucial for creating inclusive and sustainable societies. By supporting women in various sectors, including the offshore industry, SBM Offshore aims to contribute to positive social and economic advancement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the Woman of Excellence Award, SBM Offshore Guyana has pledged GYD600,000 to be donated to a charity of Ms. Cummings\u2019 choice. This initiative underscores SBM Offshore\u2019s commitment to community support and advancing women\u2019s rights in Guyana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
