Keeping the Rig Running: The Role of a Derrickman \u201cMy interest in the Oil & Gas industry started when Guyana first discovered oil \u2026 I was curious on how they managed to get it out from the ground.\u201d \u2014Raymon Chaturia, Derrickman<\/mark><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With over six years of offshore experience, one derrickman aboard the DrillMAX is a vital part of the drilling operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tasked with conditioning drilling fluids, maintaining mud pumps and bulk systems, and monitoring volumes, his role is both technical and critical. Previously with Noble Drilling and Carnival Cruise Lines, Raymon now applies his skills and experience in the demanding offshore environment and believes that when work gets complicated and decisions are hard, he can rely on his training and the great team around him to give their support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Romona Leonard, stewardess aboard the DrillMAX, plays a multifaceted role: maintaining accommodation quarters, office spaces, and the onboard coffee stations, as well as helping in both the Laundry and 18 Galley. But her contributions do not stop there. She is also part of the emergency response team and was recently elected Department Safety Officer, a testament to her growing leadership. Romona has always loved the sea, and when she first heard about offshore oil work, she became fascinated. She now gets to live that dream and help shape a safer, more welcoming environment for everyone onboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having already supported operations in Canada, this voyage marks yet another milestone in Kendra\u2019s career. She believes that being part of this international journey is a huge achievement, and allows her to contribute globally, while sharing the Guyanese culture and professionalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
