Guyana’s energy boom is reshaping the economy, and importantly, the skills and talent required to sustain its transformation.
At the epicenter of this shift is the University of Guyana (UG). The university has rapidly expanded its programs, scaled its operations to meet energy sector demands, and implemented training initiatives to prepare a new generation of professionals for an increasingly dynamic energy landscape.
Partnerships are at the core of this transformation, according to Professor Paloma Mohamed-Martin, outgoing Vice-Chancellor. Long-term structural collaborations—notably through the Greater Guyana Initiative (GGI), direct contributions from ExxonMobil Guyana and the ExxonMobil Foundation, and further support from the Exxon ecosystem—nurture innovation at UG.
