When Hayley Gilbert stepped into her role as Supply Chain Manager for ExxonMobil Guyana, she knew it was not the most obvious career path based on her background. She had started at ExxonMobil Guyana as a reservoir engineer. However, she embraced the challenge, demonstrating the mindset she believes is essential for growth—“Stretch ourselves to achieve more than we think is possible.”

The ExxonMobil Guyana manager explained this mindset and expressed her hope that other women can learn from it as they seek success in their career paths. In February, she participated in a panel with four women leaders at the Guyana Energy Conference 2025, discussing Women and Leadership.

Gilbert explained that one of the aspects she admires most about ExxonMobil Guyana is how the company applies the ‘Stretching Oneself’ philosophy to talent development. This approach has been a key factor in her career trajectory.

Gilbert acknowledged that self-doubt can be a barrier for women. “Sometimes, as women, we can be our own worst enemies,” she noted. “We assume zero knowledge, but we forget how important it is to remember that we also have that infinite intelligence.”  (Click here to read more)
