Dawn Gamell never planned for a career in logistics. Growing up in Mabaruma, Region One, in Guyana’s hinterland, she dreamed of becoming a medical doctor. However, when she moved to Georgetown in 2010 for better educational opportunities, her path took an unexpected turn.
A role at Blue Water Shipping introduced her to freight forwarding and supply chain management, sparking a passion that propelled her into the company’s prestigious Trainee Programme. “Before that, I had never considered freight forwarding as a career. But once I learned about it,
I became captivated by the process. When COVID hit, I used that time to rethink my career path, which led me to Blue Water Shipping as a Customs Admin Import Clerk. That was my real entry point into logistics, and my passion for the industry only grew from there,” she recalls.
